Indian society

But then she decides to gather her courage after listening to her friend's statement, " Take a stand not for you, but atleast for all the girls living in this country who face such creeps every working day of their life". Sonakshi smiled :)
Sonakshi was scared of talking to her mother. Since, all this chaos is to be narrated to her family member on the call, she felt there would be a lack of emotional explanation to her mother. Sonakshi's mother being emotionally sensitive needed to be told face-to-face for effective conversation. Her sister was there with her mother that time. She explained it all to her sister. Sonakshi was constantly crying, thinking that her mother would not be proud of her ever again.
Waiting near the police station gate, constantly searching for her mother and sister who were about to come within 5 minutes. Mumma would come and slap me for getting into all these. She would say that I regret you are my daughter. You are a girl, learn to protect yourself from getting harassed , that's what Sonakshi was thinking that her mother would do to her.
Tears rolling down more and more when she sees her mother and sister walking down towards her. She was ready to get slapped but, she got a hug full of peace and love from her mother. She cried harder. They went into the police station, filed an FIR.
She was in tears till the next day of it. She expected her mom to be understanding to her after that colourful hug yesterday, but she was suddenly seeing restrictions imposed on her, not just by her mom, but also by her brother, sister and father. She did not care about what other family members were thinking about her, she just cared about what her mother thinks. That gave her stress and anxiety because her mother- not so good in handling such situation did certain things which she felt is protecting her daughter from evils, but it was eating her daughter from within".
Mother asked Sonakshi to not wear ripped jeans, not get into jobs anymore. She started keeping a check on Sonakshi's mobile phone. She felt being a mother she was doing right for Sonakshi, but this innocent mother who did not know her way was leading her daughter into mental stress kept doing it.
Mother one day asked her daughter to leave her group of friends which she was with at the police station. Sonakshi aksed,"why ?"
"Because I don't like it"
"Why don't you tell directly, that it has more of a boys and less of a girls in it?"
"Yes! you got me right"
Sonakshi left….
She wanted to make her mom understand that it was not right. She started maintaining distance from her friends. She was having no friends anymore. Everyday of her passed  in tears. She was made to stay alone when she needed her friends the most. She wanted to speak about her conditions to  somebody, so she made a new friend, a DIARY. She wrote everything in this which she wanted to convey, made poems (click here ) to get her distracted.
Mom asked her once, "tell me why don't you laugh, sing and be the way you used to be"
"Because I don't feel like it anymore"
"Did I make you feel that in anyway"
"NO"
"Talk to me!"
"YES! I am being left with no friends because of you. I did what you wanted. I left them. You might be happy with it, but your reason of happiness is eating me from within", Sonakshi said while in tears.
Tears started rolling down her mom's eyes. Not because Sonakshi's was rude, But because she was guilty of being what she was to her. She apologised. She gave her again the same magical hug which like everytime took all of Sonakshi's pain away.
She explained," I just wanted to protect you from those creeps. I did not know that my way was so wrong. I have always loved you and will continue to do so and would never take away your happiness. Do what makes you happy, I am always there for you".
They both hugged and cried in happiness......

Note: She is just a mom who have never faced a situation like this before and did not know how to react to it and did it all with an intention to keep her daughter safe and respectful in this indian society.
